Drying

Inclined Disc Dryer

The Inclined Disc Dryer is an indirectly heated industrial dryer designed with a series of tilted hollow discs. It enables efficient heat transfer and uniform particle agitation, promoting effective moisture removal and stable drying performance. This dryer is widely used in chemical processing, environmental engineering, food and pharmaceutical industries, and advanced material production due to its energy efficiency, compact design, and gentle drying capabilities.

Structure and Principle

The dryer’s heat transfer principle is based on indirect heating and mechanical agitation. A heating medium such as steam, hot oil, or heated water circulates through the hollow discs and jacket, raising the surface temperature. Material to be dried continuously tumbles over the inclined discs, ensuring uniform thermal contact and moisture evaporation. The indirect heating approach prevents direct exposure to hot gases, reducing oxidation and product degradation risks.

Description

The Inclined Disc Dryer is suitable for drying wet solids, paste materials, or pre-dewatered filter cake. Its disc arrangement and inclined design increase contact surface area, shortening drying paths and improving moisture removal. Rotation of the inclined disc assembly aids in self-cleaning and consistent product movement, minimizing bridging or material buildup.

Features

Compact
The heat transfer area by unit volume is large, thus requires a smaller installation space.

Energy-saving
Indirect heating type dryer has high thermal efficiency. Lower rotation of the shaft by improved agitation makes the power consumption smaller.

Easy moisture control
Moisture contents can be controlled by the temperature of the heating media and by the retention time by adjusting the weir height of dryer outlet.

Small amount of exhaust gas
The indirect heating type generates only small amounts of exhaust gas, compact exhaust gas treatment system and deodorization system is applied. In addition, the dryer can perform vacuum drying at low temperatures.

System Flow

1.Feed introduction – Wet material is fed into the dryer.

2.Heat medium activation – Steam/hot oil circulates into disc channels.

3.Agitation & drying – Inclined discs rotate, exposing material to heat uniformly.

4.Moisture evaporation – Water or solvent evaporates and is removed.

5.Product discharge – Dried product exits with controlled moisture content.
